Marcus D. Newsome is the creator of the comic book series Lightning Strike, a story inspired by his personal experiences growing up in Compton and his desire to see positive change in the city.

 

He fell in love with drawing during childhood and found artistic expression to be his primary way of coping and comprehending his tumultuous environment both inside in outside of the home. Drawing was his safe haven, a place where he felt truly alive and could express his heart and mind. Marcus has continued to create original works of art for the past two decades. Marcus holds an associate's degree in Fine Arts from El Camino Torrance Community College.

 

His expertise is in graphic art, character development, animation, and artistic storytelling.
